Summary: AMAZING deal, xlnt $:!! ratio Comment: I'm a former guitarist and part-time drummer who recently got an acoustic kit again (in the garage)...but practicing basics at deafening levels (and -- ahem -- "entertaining" the neighbors) doesn't sit well with me, so I looked for an inexpensive electric solution solution. Found it with this. Now (7/09) reduced from the $[...] I paid, this is a ridiculously great deal... Hell, try it for 30 days; Amazon's return policy is great.
This set took a little tweaking to taste, most importantly clipping a beefy old sock to the kick pad to dampen the bounce (which was causing double-hits), but now things are sweet. Rigged up a holder for my iPod and now I just snap on the headphones and practice away whenever the hell I want -- in my home office! Sounds are great, feel/responsiveness fine, layout limitations manageable.
NOTE: I had one pad crap out (cease to work) within the 90-day warranty period, so I called the company and they OVER-NIGHTED (seriously) a replacement to me. Next morning. I was floored. If you're looking for a tinker kit and don't wanna spend 500+, this is the thing (there's a new model out for not much more, and it's prolly better, but now this one's even cheaper!)

Summary: Perfect For What I Wanted Comment: I'm a songwriter, not a drummer, who was in the process of putting a group together. I have limited practice space. I bought the Singing Machine to have around, in hopes of picking up a drummer that could add percussion to our practices and to learn the tunes.
This was a great, great buy, but would recommend finding this at a reasonable price. This far exceeded my expectations. Sturdily built, good sound, no glitches.
The drummer I found (he is excellent by the way) is left handed, while I bought a right-handed set. After about 3 practices he came over on a weekend and we literally took the kit apart and rebuilt it as a left-handed set. While he doesn't play it for the gigs, he loves it for the practices -- as do I. It saves time without having to set up, break down, pack, etc.
I regard this purchase as one of the best I've ever made.

Summary: Solid Comment: I have had this set for a couple of days and, for the money, this seems to be a great value. Really easy to set up, the wires are run inside the frame so you don't have cords hanging everywhere. I have only played it through the headphones, and overall the sound is very good. The pads and cymbals are very sturdy and fairly responsive and should hold up for a while. The kick is decent and the hi-hat function is o.k.; I have not had any of the problems, mentioned by others, with the mis-triggering zones. I would agree with the other reviewer about the pre-set patterns, which are really weak; if you are looking for some rock beats you will be disappointed. I am a medieum level drummer and this is a great set for me, since an accoustic would be way too loud; this set is a homerun for a beginner or anyone (especially a kid), looking to give drumming a try.
